The classic cheesesteak recipe is not complicated, especially if you buy bread and only need to prepare the filling. But in this article, we have reviewed an excellent step-by-step on how to prepare your own homemade classic cheesesteak recipe after making the bread with your ingredients. First, you need to mix the dry ingredients and the liquid ingredients, taking them together to prepare the dough. Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon of instant yeast
  • 125 ml of warm water
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 and 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • American cheese

Instructions
 

  • Mix instant yeast and sugar in warm water
  • In a larger bowl, whisk two eggs and mix with salt
  • Add 1 cup of milk and vegetable oil, and mix with the instant yeast
  • Add 1 and 1/2 cups of flour
  • Cover the bowl with plastic foil and let it sit for 30 minutes
  • Dust the dough and the surface with flour, shape the dough and cut it into four pieces
  • Shape each dough piece into an elongated bread
  • Cover a baking pan with baking paper and place the dough pieces
  • Score the bread
  • Cover with oil and take to the oven
  • Open the bread and take it to a skillet until slightly brown
  • Cut one onion and one pound of steak into small pieces
  • Fry the onion with butter
  • Cover another skillet with vegetable oil and fry the steak with salt
  • Make two heaps with the steak and cover with American cheese
  • Put the bread on top and take it out with a spatula
  • Cut in halves and serve

Notes

Useful tips:
  • If you’re preparing this recipe for many guests, you can fry one half of a small onion per guest in advance.
  • The type of steak used for this recipe is usually rib-eye, which is pricy but worth it.
  • You can use both white or yellow American cheese slices. Use two or three slices per every quarter of a pound of steak.
  • Peppers, ketchup, pizza sauce, mushrooms, and hash brown are acceptable toppings. But if you want to stay on the traditional side, use peppers only.
