This and the colossal information available on the web attest to its popularity. At heart, though, this remains a Russian potato salad. In December 2012, the world saw the biggest Olivier weighing more than 1800KG in Orenburg, which is to the southeast of Moscow.

Ingredients
  

  • Potatoes – 3
  • Carrots – 3 medium-sized ones
  • Green peas – 1 can, frozen
  • Eggs – 4 hard-boiled ones
  • Kosher dill pickles – 6 small ones
  • Smoked ham - ¾ cup

Instructions
 

  • Boil the eggs and the potatoes
  • Dice the potatoes into small cubes. Dice the carrots, the doctor’s sausage and the eggs
  • Pour everything into a medium sized bowl
  • Add the peas and the onions
  • Mix everything thoroughly
  • Add the mayonnaise

Notes

Useful tips
  • Do not peel the potatoes before boiling them
  • Chill for at least an hour before serving
